Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Paranormal Activity star Katie Featherston has signed on for a two episode arc on ABC's The River. No mention on what role the actress would be playing on the mysterious supernatural series, which will hit the airwaves sometime midseason. Scheduled to air eight episodes this season, The River tells the story of an explorer/TV host that disappears in the Amazon and the crew that's sent to try and find him after his emergency beacon goes off. The show stars Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek), Joe Anderson (Across the Universe), and Leslie Hope (24), among others. Featherston burst onto the scene in 2007's Paranormal Activity, a Blair Witch-ian home video horror movie that showcased a couple dealing with strange happenings in their house. The movie grossed nearly 200 million at the box office and spawned two sequels, including this fall's upcoming Paranormal Activity 3. This will be her first TV credit. What role do you think Featherston will be playing in The River? How do you think you'll like the show, based on the trailers and clips that have been released? Can a horror series like The River survive on network TV? He calls out for Julie and the girls but there is no answer. Downstairs, Dennis notices a human silhouette behind a curtain. When he pulls back the curtain nothing is present, but the room he enters has strange imagery on the walls, including the symbol from the girls' room, which had been concealed beneath framed paintings. Noticing that the back door is open, Dennis goes outside to investigate. In the garage he discovers Lois and several other women, all dressed in black. Dennis flees back to the house, with the women in slow pursuit. In the house he finds Julie at the top of the stairs. As he approaches, he sees that she is levitating unconscious above the floor. Her body is thrown at Dennis, knocking him down the stairs. He picks himself up and sees Kristi, then retreats with her into a closet. Something growls and bangs on the door but eventually leaves. Dennis and Kristi leave the closet. As they walk through the kitchen, Dennis sees outside in the garden, women circled around a bonfire. As they move into the next room they find Katie crying by Julie's body. He slowly approaches Katie from behind and places his hand on her shoulder. Katie turns and unleashes an inhuman scream that throws him to the other side of the room, injuring his leg. Katie runs away. Dennis tries to crawl toward Julie's body but Lois walks in front of him. As Lois looks down onto him, Dennis' body is suddenly and violently contorted, snapping backwards and killing him. Katie reappears and goes to Lois, who beckons to Kristi. As they head upstairs, Kristi calls to Toby. There is the sound of movement and a monstrous growl as the footage stops recording. Katie Featherston was born in North Texas in 1982, and has two younger siblings. She attended Southern Methodist University, a private college near Dallas, to study acting. While there, Featherston appeared in seven different SMU theater productions before graduating in 2005 with a BFA in acting. She promptly moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. In addition to landing work in a handful of commercials (for Honda and 3Mobile, among others), Katie Featherston appeared in a Santa Monica Playhouse production of The Distance from Here. Katie Featherston then began to appear in a string of independent films, including landing the lead in Private Lives, F.A.T. and The Scorekeeper. She had supporting roles in First Light, Mutation and 2009's Walking Distance. Katie Featherston plays the haunted girlfriend in the massive breakout hit film Paranormal Activity. Although the movie became a box office smash in the fall of 2009, it was first released back in 2007 after director Oren Peli had scraped together a few thousand dollars to make the film. Although Katie Featherston was reportedly only paid a few hundred dollars for her work in the film, it is nonetheless doing wonders for her public profile. Her imdb.com page recently showed that her popularity was up almost 1000%, an otherwise unheard-of figure.

Katie Featherston costars in a deceptively simple $11,000 film that is absolutely shattering previous Hollywood records for gross-to-budget ratios. Paranormal Activity has already raked in tens of millions of dollars and is bound to rake in double or triple that amount. Like Jenna Fischer from The Office, Katie Featherston is the consummate girl next door -- very easy on the eyes. But when looked at from feature to feature she is a much more complicated woman. Her long brown locks qualify as "babe hair," and her student-council smile is sweet and inviting. She seems like the kind of girl who ran the school newspaper and still found time to be on the yearbook committee. Maybe you weren't into her in grade nine, but by senior year, she was your first choice for a calculus study-buddy in hopes that a little one-on-one time would lead to a date to the prom. Paranormal Activity 3 is a 2011 American supernatural horror film. It is the third film of the Paranormal Activity series and serves as a prequel, set 18 years prior to the events of the first two films. It was released in theaters on October 21, 2011.[4] The film broke financial records upon release, setting a new record for a midnight opening for a horror film ($8 million), the best opening day for a horror film in the United States ($26.2 million), the highest opening for any film in October, highest opening for a film in the fall (September–October), and setting a record opening for the franchise ($52.6 million). In 2005, Katie delivers a box of old videotapes to her pregnant sister, Kristi, and Kristi's husband, Daniel. A year later, Kristi and Daniel's house is seemingly burgled and the tapes are missing. In 1988, a young Katie and Kristi live with their mother, Julie, and her boyfriend, Dennis; Kristi begins interacting with an invisible friend named Toby. Dennis notices that since Kristi's friend appeared, strange things have been happening in the house. Dennis and Julie try to make a sex tape, but are interrupted by an earthquake. While they look for the girls, the camera shows dust fall from the ceiling and land onto an invisible figure in the room. The figure then moves and the dust falls to the floor. While reviewing the footage later, Dennis notices the strange incident. He invites his friend Randy over to view the footage, who suggests that Dennis place cameras throughout the house to capture any other incidents. That night in the girls' bedroom, Kristi wakes up and begins talking to someone off-camera before going back to bed. When Dennis questions her about this the following day, Kristi tells him that it is Toby. After more disturbed nights and strange occurrences, Dennis discovers a strange symbol in the girls' closet. He finds the same symbol on a picture of women in a book about demonology. Dennis explains to Julie that the symbol belonged to a witches' coven that brainwashed girls of child-bearing age into having sons and then forgetting about it, but Julie dismisses his claim. After Kristi falls ill, Julie and Dennis take her to the hospital. Katie is left with Randy, and she asks him to play Bloody Mary with her. They go into the girls' bathroom and say "bloody Mary" three times and turn off the light. When nothing happens Katie insists they try again. Randy is stricken with pain and the lights reveal a large scratch up the side of his body. They try to leave the bathroom but a black figure moves past the door. When Randy tries to leave a second time, furniture is violently thrown around. After Julie and Dennis return, Randy leaves in a rush. The invisible demon terrorizes Katie and Kristi, harming Katie and later dragging her into the wardrobe until Kristi agrees to do what it asks. The next day Kristi asks her mother to take them to her grandmother Lois' home but she refuses. After Julie encounters terrifying activity in the kitchen she agrees to go to Lois' home. Dennis sets up another camera in the new bedroom. Before bed, Kristi dresses up as a bride, and when asked who the groom is, replies "Toby", upsetting Julie, who never wants to hear that name again. At 1 am, they are awoken by the sound of a car pulling up outside. Julie says the noise is Lois, who has trouble sleeping. After hearing more disturbances, Julie goes to investigate. When she fails to return, Dennis goes to look for her. In the background the camera captures a shadowy female figure. Dennis returns and picks up the camera.

Katie Featherston, a native Texan, was born on October 20, 1982. She has a younger brother and a younger sister back home along with a family to whom she is very close. Katie attended Southern Methodist University where she majored in acting. After graduating with a BFA in 2005, she moved to Los Angeles. The first time I saw Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) was with an audience, and I was terrified. I can not watch either of the "Paranormal" films, alone. I tried once to watch Paranormal Activity (2007) alone because I had a different version of it - a new cut. And I said, "Oh, I want to see what they changed". And I put it in and got to the first knife scene and had to turn it off. I was like, "No, no, no, no, no. I can't do this". My favorite scary movie is Candyman (1992). I love being scared, so [Halloween] is kind of the perfect time of year to have scary movie marathons. On night 21, Katie awakens to once again stand and stare at Micah while he sleeps. She walks out of the darkness, holding a large bloody kitchen knife, her shirt bloodied. She sits beside the bed, holding the knife and rocking herself, until about 2 p.m. the next day, when her friend Amber calls and leaves a message expressing her concern. At about 9:20 p.m. that night, Katie is still sitting and rocking by the bed, and Amber can be heard entering the house. During this short period, Katie stops rocking and after Amber sees Micah's body, she runs out of the house and Katie resumes rocking. Half an hour later, just after 9:50 p.m., police enter the home and discover Micah's body as well. As they are checking Micah for vital signs, a light turns on in the bedroom down the hallway, but before the police see it, the light turns off again. They discover Katie, still sitting beside the bed with the knife. As they call to her, she wakes from her catatonic state and seems confused. As she approaches them, knife in hand, calling Micah, they ask her to drop the weapon. Suddenly the bedroom door behind the police officers slams shut, startling them and causing them to shoot Katie, who collapses on the floor. The police then call dispatch and check the bedroom at the end of the hall, but find nothing. They discover the video camera, still running. A dedication to and a picture of Katie and Micah are then shown. Once Paramount acquired the film, two alternate endings were developed for it, with one of them eventually being used in the theatrical version. The original ending for the film was available for a time for viewing on the Internet before Paramount exerted a claim of copyright on the material. In one of them, seen in the theatrical version of the film, after Katie comes out of bed, she stands beside it staring at Micah for approximately two hours and then walks downstairs. After a moment of silence, Katie screams Micah's name, waking Micah who rushes to her. The camera records Katie screaming incessantly, while Micah tries to talk to her when he suddenly lets out a cry of pain. Katie's screaming stops and a brief silence is followed by the sound of heavy footsteps coming up the stairs. After another brief silence, Micah's body is violently hurled at the camera, knocking it over sideways and revealing Katie standing in the doorway. She then slowly walks into the room, her clothing soaked with blood. Crouching over his body, she sniffs Micah (who has evidently been murdered) and then slowly looks up at the camera with a sly smile. As she lunges toward the camera, her face takes on a demonic appearance just as the scene cuts to black. An epilogue text states that Micah's body was discovered by the police on October 11, 2006, and that Katie's whereabouts remain unknown. The second alternate ending was shown at only one public viewing and was later offered as an alternate ending on the DVD and Blu-ray releases of the film. In this ending, Katie gets out of bed and stands staring at Micah, as she did in the original ending, except she does not move to Micah's side of the bed. About three hours pass, then she finally goes downstairs. She lets out a blood-curdling scream, which wakes Micah up and he runs downstairs. The screaming continues, and the sounds of a struggle are heard before the noises abruptly stop. There is silence for a short while before loud footsteps are heard on the stairs. Katie then walks into the bedroom, blood covering her shirt, with a bloody knife in her hand. She closes and locks the bedroom door, then walks up to the camera, standing idle briefly. She then takes the knife and slits her own throat, then falls to the floor.

Featherston was born in Texas. She attended James Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas and participated in numerous drama activities. She attended college at the Southern Methodist University where she studied acting. She graduated with a bachelor's degree of fine arts in 2005 and afterwards moved to Los Angeles. She portrayed Katie in the film Paranormal Activity, which was made in 2007 but released theatrically in the United States in 2009, and played the same role in the film's sequels. Paranormal Activity is a 2007 American supernatural horror film written and directed by Oren Peli. The film centers on a young couple, Katie and Micah, who are haunted by a supernatural presence in their home. It is presented in the style of "found footage," from a camera set up by the couple in an attempt to photograph what is haunting them. Originally developed as an independent feature, the film was acquired by Paramount Pictures. It received a limited U.S. release on September 25, 2009 and nationwide release on October 16, 2009. The film earned nearly $108 million at the U.S. box office and $194 million worldwide. Paramount/DreamWorks acquired the U.S. rights for $350,000. It is one of the most profitable movies ever made, based on return on investment, although such figures are difficult to verify independently as this is likely to exclude marketing costs. A prequel, Paranormal Activity 2, was released on October 22, 2010, and was followed by a third film titled Paranormal Activity 3 on October 21, 2011. In 2006, Katie (played by Katie Featherston) and her boyfriend, Micah (Micah Sloat), are a young couple who recently moved into a two-story tract house in suburban San Diego, California. Katie claims that a ghostly presence has haunted her since childhood and believes that it has followed her to their new home. Each night, Micah mounts a video camera on a tripod in their bedroom to record any paranormal activity that might occur while they sleep, in the hopes of solving the problem himself. The first night, the only thing they catch are footstep noises. Katie hires a psychic, Dr. Fredrichs (Mark Fredrichs), who assesses that she is being haunted not by a ghost, but by a demon. He says the demon feeds off negative energy, and its intent is to haunt and torment Katie no matter where she goes. He advises them not to taunt or communicate with the demon, and to contact demonologist Dr. Johann Averies for help. Though Katie seems interested and engaged in the situation, Micah does not take it seriously. The camera captures several supernatural phenomena which remain minor at first, such as the bedroom door moving by itself during night 3. During night 5 however, Katie wakes up from a nightmare and it is revealed that something was whispering to her in her sleep. Micah begins to taunt the demon and the phenomena worsens; during night 13, they are awoken by an otherworldly screech and a loud thud. They go downstairs to investigate and find the chandelier moving by itself. On night 15, Katie awakens and spends several hours standing by the bed staring at Micah while he sleeps, before going outside to sit on the backyard swing. Micah awakens and tries to convince her to come inside but she refuses, her voice dreamlike and detached. When Micah goes inside to get her a blanket, he finds the TV turned on in the bedroom, and is then startled by Katie, who followed him inside but says that he woke her up. Katie remembers nothing the next day. Katie, already irritated by Micah's flippant response to the situation, becomes irate when Micah brings home a Ouija board despite Dr. Fredrichs' warnings. The two go out of the house that evening, leaving the Ouija board in the living room. The curtains and plants start to blow around and the Ouija board's planchette moves on its own. A small fire erupts on the board, but it extinguishes itself before they get home. It seems that the board has left them an unrecognizable and unreadable message. On night 17, Micah sprinkles talcum powder in the hallway and when the couple is awoken by noises, they find non-human footprints leading to the bedroom from the attic. In the attic, Micah finds a burnt photograph of a young Katie, which was previously thought to have been destroyed in an unexplained house fire. The next night, a light turns on and off and the bedroom door slams shut. Loud banging is heard, as something is apparently trying to get in. They discover that the glass over a photo of them has been smashed, with Micah's image scratched. Dr. Averies is abroad when Micah finally agrees to invite him, so Dr. Fredrichs comes instead. Upon his arrival, Dr. Fredrichs immediately has a sense of dread. He apologetically leaves despite their pleas for his help, stating that his presence is only making the demon angry. On night 19, a shadow moves across the bedroom door. The paranormal activity starts to become physical; Katie is pulled out of the bedroom by an invisible force during night 20. Stressed and exhausted, the couple decide to go to a hotel. Micah finds Katie gripping a cross so tightly that it bloodies her palm. Micah, angry at a situation he cannot control, burns the cross and the picture found in the attic. Just as he is set to leave, a suddenly apathetic, languid Katie insists that they will be okay now, her voice flat.
