Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Paranormal Activity star Katie Featherston has signed on for a two episode arc on ABC's The River. No mention on what role the actress would be playing on the mysterious supernatural series, which will hit the airwaves sometime midseason. Scheduled to air eight episodes this season, The River tells the story of an explorer/TV host that disappears in the Amazon and the crew that's sent to try and find him after his emergency beacon goes off. The show stars Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek), Joe Anderson (Across the Universe), and Leslie Hope (24), among others. Featherston burst onto the scene in 2007's Paranormal Activity, a Blair Witch-ian home video horror movie that showcased a couple dealing with strange happenings in their house. The movie grossed nearly 200 million at the box office and spawned two sequels, including this fall's upcoming Paranormal Activity 3. This will be her first TV credit. What role do you think Featherston will be playing in The River? How do you think you'll like the show, based on the trailers and clips that have been released? Can a horror series like The River survive on network TV? He calls out for Julie and the girls but there is no answer. Downstairs, Dennis notices a human silhouette behind a curtain. When he pulls back the curtain nothing is present, but the room he enters has strange imagery on the walls, including the symbol from the girls' room, which had been concealed beneath framed paintings. Noticing that the back door is open, Dennis goes outside to investigate. In the garage he discovers Lois and several other women, all dressed in black. Dennis flees back to the house, with the women in slow pursuit. In the house he finds Julie at the top of the stairs. As he approaches, he sees that she is levitating unconscious above the floor. Her body is thrown at Dennis, knocking him down the stairs. He picks himself up and sees Kristi, then retreats with her into a closet. Something growls and bangs on the door but eventually leaves. Dennis and Kristi leave the closet. As they walk through the kitchen, Dennis sees outside in the garden, women circled around a bonfire. As they move into the next room they find Katie crying by Julie's body. He slowly approaches Katie from behind and places his hand on her shoulder. Katie turns and unleashes an inhuman scream that throws him to the other side of the room, injuring his leg. Katie runs away. Dennis tries to crawl toward Julie's body but Lois walks in front of him. As Lois looks down onto him, Dennis' body is suddenly and violently contorted, snapping backwards and killing him. Katie reappears and goes to Lois, who beckons to Kristi. As they head upstairs, Kristi calls to Toby. There is the sound of movement and a monstrous growl as the footage stops recording. Katie Featherston was born in North Texas in 1982, and has two younger siblings. She attended Southern Methodist University, a private college near Dallas, to study acting. While there, Featherston appeared in seven different SMU theater productions before graduating in 2005 with a BFA in acting. She promptly moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. In addition to landing work in a handful of commercials (for Honda and 3Mobile, among others), Katie Featherston appeared in a Santa Monica Playhouse production of The Distance from Here. Katie Featherston then began to appear in a string of independent films, including landing the lead in Private Lives, F.A.T. and The Scorekeeper. She had supporting roles in First Light, Mutation and 2009's Walking Distance. Katie Featherston plays the haunted girlfriend in the massive breakout hit film Paranormal Activity. Although the movie became a box office smash in the fall of 2009, it was first released back in 2007 after director Oren Peli had scraped together a few thousand dollars to make the film. Although Katie Featherston was reportedly only paid a few hundred dollars for her work in the film, it is nonetheless doing wonders for her public profile. Her imdb.com page recently showed that her popularity was up almost 1000%, an otherwise unheard-of figure.
